On September 28th, the young author Denise Phe Funchal visited the Nuestro Futuro school library with her books for children. Since she arrived, she was very moved by Niños de Guatemala’s project, and she loved the library and the whole school.
First, she talked about imagination, books, and the wonderful experience of writing. Children listened to her attentively, as she told them how she spent her childhood surrounded by books. She then read three of her tales, and the kids really liked the one about a circus, and another one centered on the city’s sounds. She encouraged children to read and develop their interest for books, and then she finished her visit answering few questions about the important moments and facts of her life, such as her interest for sculptures, how she started writing poetry and her book Manual del Mundo Paraíso published in Guatemala by Catafixia Editorial.
As Lester our librarian said, the young author wasn’t the only person that was moved. He himself even forgot to offer her a cup of coffee!
